Bernhard Scharf, born 1974 in Salzburg, studied Landscape architecture and Landscape planning at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna. He wrote his masters thesis at the institute of Soil Bioengineering and Landscape Construction (IBLB) on flowering turf, a drought and load resistant alternative to grass lawns. Since 2006 he is employed as Scientist at the IBLB. His research focus is on vegetation technology, especially building integrated greening, quantification and simulation of plant effects.
In 2014 he co-founded a spin-off company called Green4Cities to support development and realization of green infrastructure.
